Аннотація

Purpose: Comparing the differences in the lipid profiles of patients with Essential Hypertension(E.H), with and without Ischemic Heart Diseases(IHD).

Introduction: E.H poses high risk in causing Acute Coronary Syndromes and Cerebrovascular accidents. This study intends to evaluate the pathological states in hypertensives and how it correlates with developing such complications by evaluating the age, sex, stage and degree of hypertension, lipid profile changes, and management efficacies, but will focus more on the lipid profile changes.

Materials & Methods: 20 patients with established E.H with and without IHD were evaluated using their clinical data and lipid profile results.

Result: Patients with E.H and IDH had increase in both Total Cholesterol (TC) and Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) in 7 out of 13, 3 had no changes, 4 had increase LDL only; Whereas LDL was increased in 6 patients without IHD, and TC was increased in 2 patients without IHD.

Conclusion: Increase LDL is directly linked to the development of E.H, Increase in both LDL & TC is linked to the develpoment of E.H with IHD.
