IMPORTANCE:Ischemic heart diseases is one of the most common heart diseases in the older population, with an increased incidence rate over time.IHD is a disease that creates a state of physical, psychological and economical burden on the society and individual.Too many studies have been done to evaluate the risk factors of IHD.Among them are hypertension, smoking diabetes mellitus, family history, Obesity, dyslipidemia. Hence, by addressing them we can alert individuals to follow prophylactic measures.

AIM:To evaluate the most risk factor of IHD in the older population, in young adults and old adults.

METHODS:Study included 20 patients, admitted to the regional hospital in Ternopil. The evaluation method was by examining the patients, physically and by laboratory investigations. To check for every possible risk factors. Studied the past/present history of any concomitant disease.we further studied their lipid profiles to check for balance or dis-balance of lipids and cholesterol

RESULTS:Overall patients had arterial hypertension,80% male patients were smokers ,80% female patients had obesity.98% of patients were older than 50 years old. The male gender was mostly affected.Majority of patients had family history of such disease.About 80% patients had hyperlipdemia. Diabetes was the least risk factor documented.

CONCLUSION:There is a strong relationship between IHD and smoking in men, obesity in women and a general dyslipidemia, and diabetes. A very significant association with hypertension. The male gender is strongly affected. The older population above 50years are at a major risk.Hence, individuals and physicians should be prepared to recognize and take necessary preventive measures at early age ,to modify and achieve a better outcome.
